Man soll die Wahrheit heiter sagen, denn dem Clown hört man lieber zu als dem Prediger.
Heute geht es also mal um die Wahrheit. Um die nackte Wahrheit. Und was wir tun können, wenn wir sie mal rauslassen müssen. Meistens empfinden wir das nämlich als Kritik und plötzlich fühlen wir uns gar nicht mehr wohl in unserer Haut…
Im Unternehmensumfeld nennen wir das auch gerne mal Feedback. Und spätestens in diesem so genannten Feedback-Gespräch wird es wohl mal so weit sein, dass Sie ihrem Mitarbeiter auch die ein oder andere kritische Botschaft übermitteln wollen oder müssen.
Doch was ist eigentlich so schlimm daran?
Gespräche sind eines Ihrer wichtigsten Führungsinstrumente. Sehr viele Menschen mögen es irgendwie nicht, einem anderen etwas ins Gesicht zu sagen, was ihnen an ihm missfällt oder derjenige nicht gut gemacht hat.
Und dann gibt es natürlich auch noch ein paar, die eher im Dampfwalzenmodus durch die Welt gehen und jedem seinen noch so kleinen Fehler schwer an den Kopf hauen.
Beides bringt uns nicht weiter – weder schweigen noch pöbeln. Und für beide habe ich, wie sollte es anders sein, einen Tipp parat: Versuchen Sie es doch mal mit etwas Humor! Welche Jahreszeit könnte passender sein, als diese, in der nicht nur die Politiker dieser Welt aufs Schwerste aufs Korn genommen werden – humorvoll, mit einem Augenzwinkern, aber absolut ernst gemeint.
Was die Jecken können, können Sie auch!
Zuallererst sei den Kritikscheuen gesagt: Wir brauchen Rückmeldung zu unseren Fehlern, wenn wir lernen wollen. Anders geht es nicht. Verabschieden Sie sich also von der Idee, etwas Schlechtes zu tun, wenn Sie jemanden kritisieren.
Und an die wenigen anderen die Bitte: Formulieren Sie Ihr kritisches Feedback so, dass es nicht verletzt. Außer einer kurzfristigen emotionalen Erleichterung für Sie selbst wird nämlich sonst nicht viel Positives erreicht…
Sag es durch die Humorblume.
Es ist wirklich wahr, humorvoll hervorgebrachte Kritik ist sehr viel leichter anzunehmen. Der Kritisierte fühlt sich nicht persönlich angegriffen, sondern die Wertschätzung bleibt erhalten. In diesem Modus ist jeder sehr viel leichter bereit, etwas zu verändern. Wer sich hingegen angegriffen fühlt, geht in den Widerstand.
Das Ganze fängt damit an, welchen Gesichtsausdruck Sie tragen. Gönnen Sie sich ein Lächeln und einen offenen, freundlichen Blick, wenn Sie mit der unangenehmen Botschaft rausrücken!
Fortgeschrittene wagen sich dann an Elemente der Komik wie Übertreibungen, Wortspiele, paradoxe Interventionen und Metaphern, um ihren Gegenüber auf einen Fehler aufmerksam zu machen, ohne die Stimmung zu sehr versauen zu wollen.
Eine Warnung allerdings noch:
Vorsicht mit Ironie! Diese könnte in solchen Situationen auch schnell missverstanden werden und der Kritisierte fühlt sich veräppelt. Damit wäre der Schuss dann nach hinten losgegangen…
